Make your own block printed holiday cards inspired by the Folly Cove Designers with CAM Educators in this four-hour workshop.

The Cape Ann Museum houses the largest collection of work by the Folly Cove Designers, a group of designer-craftsmen who worked together from 1938 to 1969. They produced carefully wrought designs cut into linoleum blocks and printed (primarily) on fabric. In addition to their well-known placemats, the Folly Cove Designers regularly made elaborate holiday cards to send to each other. The CAM Library & Archives hosts an impressive collection of these cards, which students will be able to view for reference.

Using simple and familiar designs, this workshop is a great entrance point for anyone who would like to try their hand at block printing. As a new addition this year, students will have the opportunity to print on an original Folly Cove press used by Mary Maletksos (1918-1993).  The press was donated to the Museum by Montserrat College of Art for use in the CAM Studio.
