Dave Drinon’s passion is painting outdoors in all seasons throughout New England. He paints in the tradition of, and draws his inspiration from, the Boston and Cape Ann painters of the late 1800’s and early 1900’s. Drinon studied studio painting at the New Hampshire Institute of Art in Manchester, NH under the tutelage of Partick McCay. He also studied with prominent Cape Ann painters Stapleton Kearns and David Curtis as well as Boston and Nantucket painter Thomas R Dunlay.

In 2015, Dave was selected to be the Artist-In-Residence at the Whistler House Museum of Art where he occupied the historic third-floor studio for over two years. He is a juried artist member of the North Shore Arts Association in Gloucester; the Rockport Art Association and Museum; and is an accepted member of the Copley Society of Art in Boston.

The Cape Ann Copley Society Residency was created by the Charles Family Foundation, in collaboration with the Cape Ann Museum and Boston’s Copley Society of Art, as a dedication to and promotion of the North Shore and Boston art communities.  Free and open to the public. Reservations required.
