First Fridays: Art After Hours

Friday, December 2

6:00 p.m. — 8:00 p.m.

Community Programs

Downtown Campus, 27 Pleasant Street, Gloucester, MA

Enjoy free admission to the Cape Ann Museum every First Friday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. Each month, CAM partners with a practicing, contemporary artist to interpret the Museum’s collections. Watch art come to life through dance, music, performance, painting, and more.

This month, the Museum is partnering with local blockprinter Mary Rhinelander for a Block Print Demonstration inspired by the special exhibition, Designed & Hand-blocked by the Folly Cove Designers of Cape Ann.   In addition, CAM Docent and local poet Suellen Wedmore will be reading selections from her new book A Fixed White Light, Poems of Women Light House Keepers in the Fresnel Lens Gallery at 6:30 pm and again at 7:00 pm.

The Museum is excited to continue partnering with Rockport Brewing Co. to offer free tastings of beer paired with art from the collections. Free tastings will be provided courtesy of Rockport Brewing Co. to all attendees who are 21 years or older.

For the first time, the Museum will also be lighting a Lobster Trap Lighthouse in the CAM Courtyard inspired by Art Haven’s Lobster Trap Christmas Tree and Temple Achvat Achim’s Lobster Trap Menorah. Mark your calendar for Friday, December 2 for a night full of art, light, and merriment!
