Second Saturdays: Fall Harvest

10:00 a.m. — 3:00 p.m.

Community Programs

Downtown Campus, 27 Pleasant Street, Gloucester, MA
Free for Cape Ann Residents

The Second Saturday of each month, the Cape Ann Museum is free for all Cape Ann Residents. Visitors of all ages are invited to head to the CAM Studio during their visit to participate in a new art project.

This spring, the Cape Ann Museum partnered with Backyard Growers to plant raised garden beds at the Cape Ann Museum Green. These gardens were filled with vegetables and herbs that would have been grown on Cape Ann in the 1700’s when both the White-Ellery House (1710) and the Babson-Alling House (c. 1740) were built.

As the growing season comes to a close, join the Museum and Backyard Growers in the CAM Studio to take a look at some of the plants and herbs that were grown at CAM Green this year. Make your own tea packets or sachets using dried herbs including sage, lemon balm, and lavender while thinking about how Cape Ann residents, both historically and today, use gardens to feed themselves and their communities.

At 1:00 pm, Jess Reid, Program Director at Backyard Growers, will be brewing tea from the herbs for anyone interested in tasting.
